One of the oldest races in cycling, Paris-Roubaix has been the climax of the spring classics season for over a century. Only war has prevented the race from running. As the race restarted following World War One, a journalist following the race saw the riders suffering across the cobbled tracks through a desolate and destroyed northern France and exclaimed ‘This truly is the hell of the North!’.
The nickname stuck and while France was reborn, the suffering of the riders remains the same. Roubaix’s brutal charms have not aged. Heaven for the visitor, hell for the losers.
Our Arenberg ’68 range bidon feature our unique chevron pattern inspired by the cobbled pavé of northern France. The Arenberg ’68 logo subtly references the arrow-straight trench road through the Arenberg forest, and the cobblestone trophy that awaits the victor.
