His incredible feats, pure and perfect style and tragically early death ensure that to this day Coppi is revered, an untouchable, God-like figure. Cycling style personified.
Fausto won, and more often than not, won alone. His legend was born of his exploits: incredible escapes, long range attacks, entire pelotons dropped from his wheel. For Coppi, all his victories, all his panache, was equal: when asked to choose his career highlights, he refused.
