Others may have a far more realistic claim to be the greatest Italian cyclist of all time - few would place Mario in the same bracket as Coppi and Bartali. But the most Italian cyclist of all time? Possibly. 

Flamboyant, a playboy, a showman and very, very fast, the tifosi and the press loved Mario Cipollini. And Mario loved, well, Mario. With a phenomenal record of 42 Giro d’Italia stage victories, everyone went home happy.
